TSE over Tahai Archeological Complex
Description
From the photographer: “This wide shot of the total solar eclipse (TSE) was taken on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) on July 11, 2010. This scene shows the Tahai Archeological Complex near Hanga Roa inside the shadow of the moon, just a few seconds after totality began. The moai, silhouetted in the foreground, are from Ahu Ko Te Riku (left) and Ahu Tahai (right). The small ‘star’ in the upper right of the image is the planet Mercury.” – © Matt Ventimiglia
