Triple Conjunction in Sicily
Description
The Moon meets Venus and Jupiter, in a rare close conjunction/occultation on 2008 December 1, as seen above the magnificent Concordia temple in the World Heritage Site of Agrigento; a city on the southern coast of Sicily, Italy. Agrigento is renowned as the site of the ancient Greek city of Akragras which established around 582-580 BC. As noted by the photographer “It was a dreamy trip to Agrigento, for the occultation of Venus, besides a visit to majestic Valley of Temples, the greatest complex of ancient Greek temples in the world. And the occultation was marvelously seen, as the weather was completely clear!” © Elias Chasiotis
