The Hole of Sorrows

A starry night at the ancient portal tomb of Poulnabrone Dolmen (hole of sorrows) in Ireland. The tomb dates back to the Neolithic period, probably between 4200 BC to 2900 BC. It consists of a twelve foot tabular capstone supported by two slender portal stones, and bordered by a nearby cairn. Excavations found at least 22 adults and children with many personal items were buried under the monument. As noted by the photographer “I was inspired by the shots on the TWAN website to travel to the remote ‘Burren’ area of Co.
