Through the Wall
Description
From the photographer: “The view from this window of the Great Wall today is the same view as hundreds of years ago. Pictured here is the central region of our Milky Way galaxy and planet Saturn rising above the ancient Great Wall’s JinshanLing section. The Great wall of China has built and rebuilt from 7th century BC to the 16th century, to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the Eurasian nomadic groups. The wall, a world heritage site today, is the world’s largest military structure with a total length of more than 20,000 kilometers, along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China.” © Jeff Dai
