Perseids in the Backyard
Description
During the peak of annual Perseid Meteor Shower in August a bright meteor is captured from the photographer’s backyard in Canada. Click on the second photo to see what happens a minute after the meteor appearance. Known as the meteor persistent train, it is the glowing ionized atoms because of the meteoroid encounter with the upper atmosphere. The faint smog-like cloud expands and moves away during the several minutes of continuous shots due to high altitude fast winds.
