Nova in Delphinus
Description
Discovered by an amateur astronomer in Japan on 2013 August 14, the erupting star designated as Nova Del 2013 is photographed here a night later on August 15th above a historic tower in medieval village of Sant Llorenç de la Muga, Catalonia, Spain. Move the slider on the image to see the annotated version. The bright nova reached magnitude 4 and was visible to unaided eyes (away from major light pollution) for few weeks, shining in the small constellation of Delphinus.
