Description

The rising summer Milky Way has arched the Grand Canyon. This wide angle panorama starts from Cassiopeia shining above the north rim of the canyon, passes through the Summer Triangle asterism (middle) formed by bright stars Deneb, Vega, Altair, and ends at the bright central bulge of the galaxy towards Sagittarius and Scorpius. The Grand Canyon, a World Heritage Site in the American southwest at the border of Arizona and Utah, is the longest canyon on the Earth (446 km), a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River steadily in millions of years.
