Ancient Ice
Description
From the photographer: “Anchored in Ymerbukta, the sun sets over the horizon at 15:51. Twilight envelops the landscape in a blue light. In front of me, the Esmarkbreen glacier, a gigantic river of moving ice, slowly descends into the sea, exhaling a deep, mysterious sound, as if trapped in a dream. This ice is so ancient; it was formed thousands of years ago from layers of snow that have accumulated and compacted over time, regulating the climate of our entire world.
The first glow of the night is that of Jupiter appearing over the cold and majestic mountain. The wind has ceased, and all is calm. In this frozen world, a witness to time and change, my soul turned blue. This shot was made from a vessel called Antigua, with the pulse of the Arctic sea.”
