Poloniny Dark Sky Park
Description
From the photographer: “Would you ever want to see a really dark sky? A natural night sky that is not affected by artificial lighting unfortunately no longer exists in Slovakia. In terms of light pollution, the darkest place is in the Poloniny National Park on the border with Poland and Ukraine, where a dark sky park has been created. In the national park there are various forests and endless forests, which are home to wolves, bears and here and there, as in the only place in Slovakia, you can see a wild bison. If you want to enjoy the view of the night sky in comfort, there is an astronomical observatory called “Observatory on the Kolonica saddle” with the second largest telescope in Slovakia just before the entrance to the national park, in the village of Kolonica. Here‘s also a link on facebook to a VR 360° pano.”
