Aurora Panorama
Description
From the photographer: “My original plan was to go out at 2am. When I got the alert on my phone at 10:45pm, I decided to go out to my usual spot at the Ashokan Reservoir. On the promenade, I was met with no less than 50 people out watching the Perseid meteor shower. The aurora was a surprise to most, but some of the people I spoke with had travelled from New Jersey and further to see and photograph the aurora.
I’ve seen the aurora in New York more than a handful of times, and I knew I wanted a new perspective. Though hard to accomplish from a tried and true viewpoint, I setup my Sony A7II with Viltrox 16mm F1.8 lens vertically and captured a series of 6s exposures. I blended them together into this panorama to show the breadth and size of the aurora pillars.”
