A Starry Night of Vermont
Description
The Milky Way band rises as an arch in this panoramic view of a spring night in Stillwater State Park. The galaxy’s central bulge in Sagittarius and Scorpius is on the right and Cassiopeia is on the left where some aurora activity has brightened the northern horizon in pale purple-red. Being far from major cities, the sky above this protected lake is not affected by bright skyglow but still two bright post lights on the shore can impact nocturnal species.
