Description

From  the photographer: “Finally I could experience something like that again over the starry sky at home! Normally, the northern lights do not appear over Germany, and if they do, they can only be detected photographically deep on the northern horizon.

And then came the night of May 11, 2024. Breathtaking northern lights appear that night over the Trier region and all of Central Europe. They are the brightest and most intense northern lights that I have ever been able to observe from my home. Even with the naked eye, the different colors ranging from pink to green were easy to see. There were constant changes in their structure and intensity. I photographed the natural spectacle near the municipality of Kommlingen in Rhineland-Palatinate on the border with Luxembourg, looking north into the Trier Moselle valley.”
