Moon, Jupiter, and a Comet
Description
A photo composite of multiple exposures. From the photographer: “You will immediately recognize Jupiter with some of its Medicean satellites, a very thin crescent moon and, just below, the come 12/Pons-Brooks. I have to say that the picture was much more difficult than expected to take and also to process. Indeed I was expecting the moon not to affect the light so much, not to mention that even in a small amount of time the moon moves differently than the stars and the comet.
In the field I had to make several trials to find the good exposure settings not to clip the moon, still retaining some details in the rest of the sky. In addition to that, as we know, the comet is now very very low on the horizon, making everything more complex. Nevertheless it was emotionfull to be in relative darkness, see this nice celestial gathering of the moon and Jupiter, completed by the comet appearing on the screen of my camera.”
