Train Cemetery in Uyuni
Description
From the photographer: “Just outside the old railway mining town of Uyuni, old locomotives amass at their final resting place, decaying over the time. Known as the train cemetery, the relics serve as a reminder of Uyuni’s importance as a junction town between the silver mines and the coast at Antofagasta on Chile’s Atacama desert coast. The engines all reflect the town light pollution at night, painting them a heavy orange and rust colour, but the high altitude location surround by Bortle 1 high altiplano and the flattest place on Earth, the Salar de Uyuni mean the night sky is incredible. The locomotives provide such an intriguing foreground for the astrophotography.”
