A Heavenly Triangle Over Saarburg
Description
As seen on Astronomy Picture Of the Day. From the photographer: “In the early morning of January 9, 2024, the planets Venus and Mercury shine brightly together with the narrow crescent of the waning moon as a right-angled triangle above the historic city skyline of Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate. On the left you can see the former residential tower of the castle ruins from the 9th century and on the right the Protestant church from 1893. It cannot be seen from the photo that the temperature was -8°C at the time of exposure.”
