Cosmic Opuntia Cactus with Cochineal

From the photographer: “During the last years I have worked on an astro-landscape-photo documentary about the Canary island of La Palma with it’s natural dark sky, landscape and powerful world class telescopes. After diving deep into the scenery and nature of that island, I started get more interested in indigenous plants and the synergy between these plants and humans which is very essential on such islands. But it’s also the home for many insects and animals that live a secret life in the surroundings of these precious plants and cacti and become visible mostly at night. So one night, I hiked into a wild barranco to get some cosmic shots with the Milky Way and some basic lightpainting.”
