Description

From the photographer: “For more than a year I have been waiting for the ideal conditions to take this shot. A special moment where everything comes together to recreate a dream scene. The shot is based on a triple alignment that happens only on very rare occasions. In the foreground it is possible to observe the silhouette of the Giuliano village; a village built in 1940 with the main purpose of encouraging the spread of agriculture managed by small landowners. Today, although the object of a work of recovery of historical memory, the village is only partially restored. The main church remains in ruins and the left wall and its bell tower have detached from the main building and are in danger of collapsing due to their inclination. On the second floor, however, the silhouette of Etna stands out with its emissions of dust from the summit craters. A little to the left, on the other hand, the ashy Moon has just risen, characterized by a very narrow lunar sickle. The moment is also magical because the astronomical night has just ended and the landscape is lighting up with the blue of the blue hour.”
