Church, Volcano, and Milky Way
Description
From the photographer: “A single shot of the Milky Way above the Sajama volcano (Bolivia’s highest peak) and ruined church at Huacolle in Sajama National Park in western Bolivia. The church has been lit by some light painting with a head torch. The Southern Cross is visible just above the volcano, and above it the 2 bright stars Alpha and Beta Centauri. The Incas called these 2 stars “The Llama’s Eyes” and the long dark nebula above them Urcuchillay, the Llama (head down in this shot). I’ve have a sizeable collection of astrophotography images of rural churches of the high Altiplano of Bolivia and northern Chile which I am always adding to.”
