Desert Stars on a Full Moon Night

From the photographer “During one of my popular overnight public stargazing campouts on the night of March 29, 2010, the light of the full moon lit a break in the tamarisk trees and created a marvelous portrait of heavens and earth. In the western sky appeared the constellation of Orion, the hunter, with its three “belt” stars pointing left toward Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. A jet’s vapor trail―also lit by moonlight―drifted across the sky and, when it passed directly over Orion’s belt stars, I realized I missed a great shot by not having my camera ready. A similar vapor trail drifted by a few minutes later; this time I got it!”
