Drive to Vegas

While I’m usually known as explorer of dark starry skies and natural nights around the world, I also photograph city lights and urban skies in comparison. On this very windy evening I was on the way to Las Vegas, Nevada. About 20 miles away from the city the sky suddenly opened up with stars and the crescent moon above an ocean of citylight, which is also illuminating the clouds. The crescent moon on the right side is viisble with a colorful atmospheric halo around it. During the 5 seconds exposure a passing bus “painted” the view with trails.
