Sky Above Aegean Sea

Looking west from a rocky hill at the Aegean Seashore in southwest Turkey, this early evening view shows the winter stars and the Milky Way arcing above zodiacal light and the light pollution of Marmaris below it. Much closer, parts of Iztuzu Beach is partly visible behind the trees in the foreground. The lights from nearby town of Dalyan is visible behind the right side hills. At left the light from the Greek island of Rhodes is visible 50 kilometers off the coast. Also notable in the sky, through the zodiacal light and near the Pleiades star cluster is planet Mercury.
