Moonlight on Volcano
Description
In a clear night of January, Alborz Mountains are illuminated with moonlight. The giant volcanic peak in the center is Mount Damavand, one of the most spectacular live volcanoes of the Earth at top altitude of 5610 meters. Damavand has been a legendary mountain in Persian culture. On the left of the mountain the white-yellow dome of light comes from metropolitan Tehran. Captured in this time-exposure image a main road in Haraz valley connects Tehran with Caspian Sea through the Alborz Mountains. The bright “star” above the lights is planet Venus as it sets in western horizon. Setting stars above the volcano represent the area of the Summer Triangle.
