Starry Sky of a Mediterranean Harbor

Planet Jupiter and the summer Milky Way are captured above lights of Knidos, a harbor in southwest Turkey and an ancient Karian city located at the tip of Datca peninsula between Mediterranean and Aegean seas. As noted by the photographer “This is a narrow peninsula between two different gulfs and seas, Mediterranean Sea to the left and Aegean Sea to the right. In fact the isthmus between two harbors here is so narrow that you can dip in one sea, get out and swim in the other in a couple of minutes. I walked to this higher vantage point to get both seas and sky above in one frame. Also note the bright Knidos Lighthouse at the right end.”
