Description

The Nubble is one of the most photographed Lighthouses in the country, at least during the daytime.  There are far fewer images of the lighthouse once the sun goes down.

I captured this image on March 11, 2021, at approx. 2:30 a.m. while the tide was low at the Nubble Lighthouse. I planned out the shot using PhotoPills app in order to get the alignment of the core of the Milky Way behind the lighthouse. While it wasn’t a spectacularly clear night, the camera was about to cut through the light pollution and atmospheric haze to get a better view of the galaxy as it rose above the horizon. The rocks and reflection of the lighthouse red beacon created a wonderful balance for the image, and act as a leading line to the lighthouse.
