Hoodoo Galaxy

This cold starry winter night of Utah was about to end at this moment. Just before morning twilight the Milky Way was rising in constellation Cygnus, the Swan. The giant natural amphitheater which creates the Bryce Canyon National Park was incredibly silent. It felt like it’s frozen in time, eternally. The 10-second exposure photograph shows the iconic Thor’s Hammer, a hoodoo formation resulted from weathering of sandstone and siltstone layers with the softer layers eroding faster than the harder parts to create these bizarre shapes.
