As seen on Astronomy Picture of the Day, The faint red color of a total lunar eclipse results from blue sunlight being more strongly scattered away by the Earth’s atmosphere. This very natural looking HDR time-lapse video of July 2018 eclipse is photographed with a small telescope from the dark clear sky of Maidanak, Uzbekistan.
