Photo Report: TWAN Workshop in Zanjan
TWAN annual workshop and exhibition in the university town of Zanjan, Iran, is a prominent educational astrophotography program in the Middle East with a growing success. This photo report reviews the September 2012 event. The 2014 workshop is scheduled for February 26 – 28. More information (in Persian) is available here. Started in 2010 the annual event includes 3 days of talks by TWAN members and other invited astrophotographers with presentations both in English and Persian. The workshop covers all type of astrophotography from nightscapes to deep sky imaging and processing methods. The organizing committee is led by experienced Iranian astrophotographer Asadollah Ghamarinezhad and TWAN director Babak Tafreshi. Up to 100 participants are approved each year for the workshop, from across Iran and the neighboring countries. The event is supported by Zanjan municipality, the Art and Culture Center of the city, Astronomical Society of Iran, Asemane Shab (Night Sky) company (the main provider of astronomical equipments in the country) and Pars Sky (Iranian website for astronomy news).
