Iridium Flash Above Sky Photographer
Description
By reflecting sunlight toward the Earth, an Iridium communication satellite (number 45) flares in the evening sky of Teide National Park in Tenerife, Canary Islands. It reached the magnitude -7 which is about 15 times brighter than planet Venus. Winter constellations of Orion (shown to the right of the flash) and Taurus (with the Pleiades star cluster) are appeared in this sky view. Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, shines under the flash and below near to the horizon is the southern star Canopus (the second brightest star in the night sky).
