Description

From the photographer: “One of the best places I have ever visited in my life the legendary Aitutaki island of the Cook Islands. This image is actually one of the first ever astro-photography captured from the island, made on 30th August 2014. It s kind of shame, because the sky above Aitutaki is just incredible. Even if I didn’t have completely clear skies, it was still like in some fairytale. The Milky way was just above nothing, above the crystal clear lagoon with some motus on the horizon. And all above was reflected by the calm water. The Gegenshein was easily visible above my head and so beautiful view around the lagoon made me feel like in heaven. Actually, there was nothing more than heaven above the sandy beach and coconut palms. Green and red color in the sky is, of course, airglow. And watching the Large Magellanic Cloud rising above the ocean.”
