A Notable Photo of the 2014 International Earth & Sky Photo Contest

From the photographer: “Taken in a very remote area of central California, it shows how difficult it is to get away from light pollution in our modern world. The orange glow on the horizon is not a sunset, but the sodium vapor lights from Fresno, CA. While ultimately unfortunate, sometimes light pollution can provide a beautiful contrast to the blue of a night sky still illuminated by a partial moon.”
