From the photographer: “The picture describes a night at the Maimenoike Pond, at the foot of Mt. Norikura. We see the Dipper and Casiopea pointing the Polar Star, with reflection on the pond. This location is pitch dark; one of the few places left in Japan where we can enjoy a beautiful dark sky with almost no worry of light pollution.”
