Stars over Smoke
Description
From the photographer: “Ascending columns of smoke from a series of forest fuel reduction burns collapsed after sunset and settled out below Pyramid Rock, Girraween National Park, eventually extending across several kilometers of the valley floor by the time the moon rose, as shown in this image. Despite the last quarter moonlight, the shapes of the Large Magellanic Cloud and the Milky Way are also clearly visible, creating symmetry between the smoke and the stars.”
