Dodoni Ancient Theater Startrails
Description
From the photographer: “The Ancient Theater of Dodoni is one of the biggest and best preserved Greek ancient theaters. At the time it was built in the 3rd century B.C. it could host 18000 people. It was built by King Pyrrhus of Epirus nephew of Alexander the Great. The theater sits next to the shrine of Dodona which was the oldest Hellenic oracle, according to the fifth-century historian Herodotus and in fact dates to pre-Hellenic times, perhaps as early as the second millennium BCE.”
