Desert Sky Shooter

By: Dennis Mammana

Region: Americas

Site: Anza-Borrego Desert - USA

Date: 2010 May 19

From the photographer "Few things are more enjoyable―and more serene―than a starry night in the badlands of Southern California's Anza-Borrego Desert. On the night of May 19, 2010, a rugged wall in Fonts Wash offered a perfect terrestrial foreground for a sky photography student's camera. The North Star (Polaris) appears center left and, from it, the Little Dipper arcs upward to the right. A thick crescent moon illuminates the scene from the west." Dennis Mammana/
