The Minaret towers of the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, (Cairo, Egypt) reach towards the heavens and are bathed in golden desert light, as Comet Hale-Bopp appears in the night sky above the Minaret towers. Many cultures from around the world have been inspired and influenced by the celestial. The crescent moon adorning the Minaret towers provide an example of astronomical symbolism in the Islamic religion. John Goldsmith.
