A time exposure image has captured star trails (motion of the sky due to the Earth rotation) around the north celestial pole, marked by the north star Polaris at the upper left. On the Earth is the historic Schwerin Palace and Castle in the northeastern Germany. The palace currently serves as the seat of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament and it is regarded as one of the most important works of romantic Historicism in Europe.
