Find Vesta By: Tunc Tezel |
Region: Middle East Site: Mount Uludag - Turkey Date: 2011 July 27 | |||
|
This scene of autumn constellations over a 2300-meter high glacial lake on Mount Uludag of Turkey includes hundreds of stars but also two objects in our own Solar System: asteroid Vesta and planet Neptune. It's not easy to find either of them among so many stars although Vesta was just bright enough at this time to been seen by unaided eye (in a dark sky like this). Click on the constellation icon above the image to locate the notable celestial objects and figures in this view. Tunc Tezel
