The band of our home galaxy, the Milky Way, is photographed above mountains of Tenerife, Canary Islands. As noted by the photographer "I was at the base of Mount Teide, in the 2100-meter high volcanic caldera. The weather was very unstable. From time to time, the stars were lost in the passing clouds, fog, even snow and in a few brief minutes they came back. The highest peak in the picture is Alto de Guajara (2718 m) which is covered with May snow. It was a really interesting and rare experience to see the bulge of Milky Way in Scorpius and Sagittarius this high over the horizon." Tunc Tezel
