Colors of Orion

By: Amir H. Abolfath

Region: Middle East

Site: Mesr - Iran

Stars of constellation Orion rise above desert landscape in this long exposure image. But the trails are different than normal stratrails photos. The photographer has gradually changed the lens focus during the exposure from infinity to shorter distances. As the stars got defocused and diffuse in the image their colors are better revealed. The bright yellow-orange star at the Orion's shoulder is Betelgeuse, a red super giant star and one of the brightest in our night sky. The bright white-blue star on the other side at the Hunter's knees is Rigel, a young giant star. Amir Abolfath -
