A Notable Photo of the 2015 International Earth & Sky Photo Contest
From the photographer: "For Valentine’s Day this year, my wife and I decided to have dessert in the mountains. So, we packed a picnic basket and my camera gear and drove about an hour or so up to Snoqualmie Pass to Gold Creek Pond, where we set up and took this picture. The “table” is actually a cooler with a tablecloth on it, and on that you can see our dessert. The only lighting here was from the stars and the candles on the table. It was about -2C out, so quite cold, and as this was a single photo of 20 seconds, we had to hold REALLY still in the cold and with a glass of wine. It took a couple of tries to get it right!
I like this picture for a couple of reasons. One is that it’s a picture of my wife and I on Valentine’s Day, and she still talks about it (she loves the picture). Two is that it’s a great reminder that just because the sun goes down doesn’t mean you have to stop having fun in the mountains! We had a ton of fun making this picture (and eating dessert)."
